Memorial Field for a Disappointed Century
The following airplanes are a few of the one hundred planes I made for the North Carolina Museum of Art for their centennial celebration of the first flight. These planes were installed outdoors on a large sloping field approaching the museum entrance. This installation was part of a larger show entitled DEFYING GRAVITY. The project took me a year to build and install. It was on display for five months in 2003. The size of these pieces range from a four inch wingspan to a fourteen foot wingspan.
